Brest reduction (reduction mammaplasty)

Some women may perhaps envy you but you know very well what an inconvenience it is to have big breasts. Unlike others, you would you like to see your breasts a little smaller. WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE THE SURGERY

What outcome can I expect?

The first step to take is to arrange an appointment for the pre-surgery consultation. You will be taken care of directly by a plastic surgeon from the very first moment at the Aesthevita plastic surgery clinic. You will discuss with him/her what steps would be perfect for your case and he/she will describe you the progress of the procedure and answer questions about anything you are curious about.

Smaller and firmer breasts

Reduction mammaplasty is not only about reducing the size of the breasts but also about lifting them up and providing support for them. Whether your breasts sagged after breastfeeding or due to ageing, the procedure will give your cleavage an attractive appearance.

Right before the surgery

When the planned date of the procedure is approaching, you will undergo the pre-surgery examination. This involves blood sampling, an ECG and a sonographic examination of the breasts. The women aged over 60 undergo an x-ray of the lungs as well, the age limit for smokers is set at 50.

WHAT IS HAPPENING UNDER THE HANDS OF A SURGEON

What does the surgery consist of

Reduction mammaplasty is about the removal of excess skin, mammary gland and its modelling and about lifting up the sagging areola. This procedure can be combined with the areola reduction. The most modern surgical techniques of reduction mammaplasty are very gentle to the mammary gland, they preserve the areolas sensitivity as much as possible and minimise the size of post-surgery scars. After the surgery, the doctor covers the wounds with a sterile bandage and puts a tape and a compression belt on the breasts.

More attractive appearance and minimum of scars

With respect to the fact that reduction mammaplasty requires a combination of several related procedures, the surgeon performs the incision around the areola and along the inframammary fold. You do not have to worry about conspicuous scars. They remain subtle after healing.

Overnight stay at the clinic

Expect to spend a night at the clinic after the breast reduction and modelling. The procedures which are performed under general anaesthesia require a short stay in hospital. Look at it from the positive side – after the surgery you will have proper rest and the doctor will check you before you are discharged.

THE WAYS IN WHICH I CAN SUPPORT RECOVERY

Respect days off

You should spend the week following the surgery in a leisurely way. You will be ready for full physical exertion in approximately one month. You can return to everyday office work sooner. The easiest way is to follow the instructions given by the doctor who will assess you individually according to the current status of healing.

Check-up after a week

You will go to your doctor for a check-up after one week. The sutures are absorbable so no one has to remove them later. The most sensitive stage of healing is over but your body will need a few more weeks for full recovery. Be careful during the whole period.

Wire-free bra only

An elastic bra, which you receive at the clinic and is included in the cost of the procedure, will become your inseparable companion for the whole six weeks. It will provide the breasts with sufficient support and it will significantly help the proper healing process after the surgery. Take it off only occasionally and for a while, e. g. to take a shower. You can return to the usual underwired bras after six weeks.

Tip: Get a second compression bra so you can change them, e.g. when one needs washing. You can minimize the risk of infection only with maximum cleanliness. It is essential mainly in the first days after the surgery. You can even wash your bra every day.

HOW IT WILL CHANGE MY LIFE

Shine with your self-confidence

Breasts are one of the intimate parts of the female body. Although they may not be particularly exposed to everybody, women usually care about their appearance a lot. The shape and the appearance of the breasts, whether influenced by genes, maternity or ageing, often strongly influence a woman’s self-confidence. The modelling of the breasts will give a woman a new boost for her self-confidence, which will then have a positive effect on various areas of her life.
