Arm liposuction

WHAT TO START WITH BEFORE THE PROCEDURE

Consultation is necessary

Before you go shopping to get the tank top of your dreams for summer, make an appointment for the pre-surgery consultation. The consultation precedes every procedure. You will be taken care of directly by a plastic surgeon (that means the most competent specialist) at the Aesthevita plastic surgery clinic. Ask questions about anything you are curious about. So you will get to know the specific recommendations from the doctor and will leave with a clearer image of the process and the outcome of the planned surgery.

Exercising was not enough? Try liposuction

Each organism tends to store fat in certain body parts. Do you struggle when fighting with accumulated fat in the arms? Exercising does not make the arms thinner; on the contrary, the muscles will be more defined thanks to it. If your only aim is – to get rid of the fat in this area – liposuction is one of the easiest solutions. And the effect is guaranteed.

Right before the surgery

Before the procedure, you undergo the pre-surgery examination with blood sampling and an ECG. The patients aged over 60 undergo an x-ray of the lungs as well, for smokers the age limit is lowered to 50+.

WHAT IS HAPPENING UNDER THE HANDS OF A SURGEON

Decide on the type of anaesthesia

The liposuction is performed under both local and general anaesthesia. The second option is more comfortable for the patients because there is no pain at all. If you decide on local anaesthesia, take into account the fact that you will feel the pressure of the cannula through which the surgeon sucks the fat out.

The surgeon applies a special solution into the subcutaneous tissue as soon as the anaesthesia starts to work. Your subcutaneous fat will be dissolved better thanks to it and will be sucked out. The surgeon removes it using a cannula connected to the device generating suction. Its diameter is only a few millimetres and so is the diameter of minor scars that will remain visible after the surgery. Stitching the wounds with absorbable sutures and application of a sterile bandage come at the end of the surgery.

THE WAYS IN WHICH I CAN SUPPORT RECOVERY

Plan a short holiday

Persuade yourself to take a rest in the first week after the surgery. The arms will desperately need to rest. Your family will help you with everything, at least for a while. The bruises and swelling will gradually disappear within three weeks. In approximately 6 weeks you can return to sports and other physically demanding activities. Massage the treated area during your recovery. It significantly promotes the proper healing of the scarred subcutaneous tissue.

The underwear you can’t live without

Spend the six weeks after the surgery in the compression garment you leave the clinic in. Take it off only for a moment – for a shower for example. The compression garment prevents creating more bruises and facilitates healing.

The curves will gradually become visible

After the liposuction, swelling of the body can continue to subside even for several months. Do not be surprised if you have the impression that your arms have not been reduced as you expected even after a few weeks. It will improve, but it may not happen immediately after the last bruise disappears.

HOW IT WILL CHANGE MY LIFE

The fat will not return to the treated areas

We are born with a certain number of fat cells. They behave according to our genetic predisposition and the care we provide to our body. The removed fat cells will not come back so the fat cannot be stored in the body parts treated during the liposuction procedure anymore.

The fat is not stored in the treated areas after the liposuction but the body cannot be fooled so easily. It will find another part where the fat can be stored. You’re the one who knows your own body the best. Do you eat whatever you want and still not gain any weight? Then you do not need to change anything essential. But if your weight changes with each calorie above your usual diet, keeping the modelled figure will require your effort. Compensate a sedentary occupation with regular exercises and cross out most of your bad dietary habits.
